Grave Walk

You may recall, back in November D & I went to check out Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland. This weekend we went on our first guided tour of the cemetery. They do tours every 2nd and 4th Saturday. One general tour a month and one tour that focuses on a specific element - like doctors, or symbols, etc.

Our tour guide, Ron, was lovely. He gave us a brief (2 hour) tour of some of the more well-known or interesting people buried in the cemetery. We barely brushed the surface.

Greek revival themed mausoleum

Tomb that's a scale replica of the monument Queen Victoria build for Albert.

Love the detail in the granite

Sad little headstone fallen over

Again, my favorites are always the headstones with the paragraphs of writing talking about the individual.

It really was a lovely way to spend the morning, even if it was a little colder than I expected.
