From my Professor

So, now I can be the first to congratulate you on the successful completion of your ePortfolio and of Libr 289. You do not need to do anything else to get credit for the class. I'll send you a follow-up e-mail but for now it is time to celebrate!

-I just finished my masters degree y'all!

You know you are on vacation when....

You wake up at 7 am without an alarm, and you are me! That probably has not happened since the last time I was on vacation. Should do this more often. The weather here is beautiful!

My travels were again eventful - mostly the pain of forgetting my phone and having no way to call J to find out what I needed to do to get to the hotel. Luckily when I arrived I went to the lobby and about 5 min later she and her mother walked in, providence.

We had a lovely dinner, they have this Disney dining plan and every meal comes with dessert - this could be a big problem.

J's mother is the cutest thing. I love the Tennessee accent! She is like G on crack though when it comes to talking to strangers, which as you can imagine is a little overwhelming for me, but fun to enjoy. The bell hops at the resort where we are staying are all from French speaking countries, everyone we meet she says "K speaks French" and then I have to have a conversation. Although the guy who drove us to the hotel room did tell me I have lovely pronunciation, that was lovely. I have a feeling that I am going to be speaking to every French person we meet...

Other favorite moment - this morning when J's mother asked if this was my natural hair color. ??? So hilarious.

Woke up at 7 and ran to the gym, worked out for half and hour and came back and had a lovely morning. Now it is off to the park. Let's hope I don't end up tomato red with a nasty sunburn! Have a great week all. Will update.

Blue

So much is going on, the papers progress, spent the other night in SF with Juliet and had a wonderful time, Easter with the fam, red fences and the story of the TV in my car...all anecdotes of hilarity. I choose to post instead on my hair, which is now blue. C described it as wonder woman black/blue. Here is a photo - taken on my phone. It looks brighter than it actually is, I think.

I have to finish my papers and then maybe the stories will come, if I can get to it before I leave for Florida on Sunday!

The Pernicious Sin of Photography

My favorite moment from General Conference:

President Monson is talking about evils in the modern world and the computer. G looks at mom and says in her most accusatory tone “Yeah MOM!” Somehow insinuating that my mother had something to learn from the stern lesson being taught.

Silent pause in the Svz living room (not a frequent occurrence).

The expressions on the faces of Mom, C and Dad register shock, embarrassment, indignation, mirth, and amusement. C, Dad, and I begin laughing.

K: “G, he said pornography not photography.”

G: “What?”

K (repeating): “He said pornography not photography.”

G: “What’s the difference?”

Needless to say Mom and G will be having a talk…. I missed the next few minutes of Pres. Monson's talk as C, Dad and I were just about rolling on the floor. Mom had to shush us.

Uncle T’s Favorite

I can’t remember the exact context…it was rather late. A few nights ago J and I had a ridiculously long “discussion” about who was Uncle T’s favorite. Ridiculously long! We both proposed manifold reasons why we were the favorite and the other was not, we then contemplated the competition coming from G’s corner of the ring. In the end I won by default with the, “I was here before everyone else, even J…” line. Though J did give me a run for my money with her “just wait till Anthony Jr. comes along” bid. AG – they could even have the same initials.

Today I was making yet another friend from work watch lil'J’s Tom Petty impersonation and I had the horrible realization that I had just been supplanted as the first born - he is the first born of the next generation. So here is why lil'J and I will always be the favorites. Love ya J!

J emailed me her response:

3 Down...

13 more to go!
I am pleased to announce that if I finish one paper every day for the next 13 days that will give my professor 5 days to read everything and let me know if I need to make any changes, which I probably will since she has had me make changes to every paper I have submitted so far. Not that I can complain...I am such a procrastinator! Though in my defense January-March is a crazy time at work for me since I am still doing multiple jobs.
Thankfully a new employee, Cyntia, is starting tomorrow! It is about time! I will probably celebrate by taking Tali's advice and have a mental health day next week to work on some papers, or maybe if I am very lucky I can finish four papers on Saturday while I am listening to conference, because I won't be going anywhere and will justify multitasking in this instance and thus I may be able to finish them all before the 13th. Either way the 13th is my self selected deadline (Ha! I don't even believe myself when I write that).
Thankfully I do have some vacation time this month so I will be in SF visiting friends on the 13th and 14th and then I will be off to Florida the 19th-25th for a early graduation and birthday trip. I can't hardly believe that once I finish these papers I will be done, done! I feel like this Master's program has gone on forever.
I can't believe my 27th birthday is approaching and will soon pass. I find that shocking. I guess I always thought my life would end at 25 because I didn't plan for what I would be doing at this point - school and work I guess, good to know I am on track.
