MLK Weekend

For our MLK service we spent a few hours Saturday morning weeding at a Sacramento park. It was freezing cold by the time we left, but we had a great time.

Monday we took the long awaited trip out to Winters. Including a walk down to Cody's for lunch, a visit to the old railroad bridge I've been telling A about and finally a drive and hike out to Lake Berryessa for some driving range practice.

N, Me, C, C & B

We hiked down to one of the old High School haunts at the lake, in a small cove near the dam. The weather was fantastic, but there was a lot of mud, a few casualties occurred on the hike down and back. Pretty sure my shoes almost slipped me right off the hillside.

We brought a ton of golf balls, and the echo made it sound like we were shooting guns. Which is probably what brought the Sheriff boat as close as he could get to us. Luckily the water was too shallow for him to get close enough to talk to us.

Dropping our clubs and trying to look innocent.

Luckily it was pretty much time to leave by that point - so no tickets were issued.

Adventures with A

My friend A is a fantastic one for coming up with random, but thrilling activities. Way back in November we went on an early morning hike/walk up over the American River just below Folsom Dam.

Disneyland 2

The best possible outline of the week is available on T's blog, but here are a few highlights - beyond my fantastic Buzz Lightyear score.

Grandpa T arranged for a friend of his to pick us up and drop us off at the airport in Burbank, about 10 min from his house. The first thing I noticed when he pulled up was his license plate.

If you can't see it in the photo it reads FROGPRN - see it now? His name is William Selditz, his is a jazz drummer, treasurer of the Los Angeles Jazz Society, and entertained us with stories of Jeff Hamilton and Snookie Young. Interesting guy, on the way to drop us off at the airport he threw out something about "could have showed you LA" I don't know that I'd want a tour but when he told us that he had seen Jeff Hamilton the other night (while we were there) I wished I had the chance to sit around with a bunch of drummers in their 60's and 70's and ask them what LA used to be like. What it was like to play with Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, and Tony Bennett.

We had beautiful weather the first two days, on Monday I saw the sign for the new Cars Land - I almost died, lil'J is going to freak out when we take him.

I could have sat in the Illustrator's workshop in CAdventure all day! Pooh's neck is too long, but it was so much fun. We went back for more later in the week.

The Svz's love us a Monte Cristo sandwich. Just for you C and Mom.

If you think people can get a little religious about Disneyland you are right. A big highlight was the Splash Mountain saga. The first time we rode T was shocked that I managed to be so charming in our first photo - knowing where the camera is helps :)

She decided the next go around that this time she was going to look at the camera - with the following result.

As you can see, the level of the camera was overcompensated slightly. When we got down to the photos I just died, can I get a Hallelujah! You can get churro's and revelation at Disneyland - that's truly why it is the happiest place on earth. T does look REALLY happy.

Update

While I was at Disneyland I received a text from my mom letting me know that everyone was tired of my hair posts and asking me to blog abut my trip...sadly, I did not take my computer with me. November and December were busy months. School finished, I finished up my internship with the California Museum, the holidays, and I got a new full-time job working for nice people. Here is an update:

Kings Game

I hope you can tell how close we are, it was amazing! And so much fun. My friend J got tickets from her boss.

Here is my friend A and I at the Oakland temple, our entire branch took a bus down to see the lights. I enjoyed the ride and luckily the fog cleared after dinner or we wouldn't have seen anything.

After Christmas T and I flew down to Disneyland for a week. It was amazing! We had a fantastic time. Though the park was insanely crowded we got to do everything and never had to wait that long.

One highlight - I totally killed on the buzz lightyear ride - ranked second in the entire park that day, excited. Sadly, it was a feat not to be repeated. Please note the 'Rank 2' at the top - even better because at one point I looked down and realized my point counter was as high as it could go so I stopped shooting, and thus didn't get the number one spot.
